(More customer reviews)I spent some time looking up different brands before deciding on Gaiam, as I heard pretty good things about it. Not suprisingly (if you read the title of my review anyways) I found it a bit less than expected. I got it in the mail today and was very excited to use it for yoga. Perhaps unlike some delicate flowers that practice yoga I do sweat occasionally and my hands and feet kept slipping out from under me! That can be a bit precarious when your doing yoga and your face is close to a hard wooden floor. Now this is the first yoga mat I've owned; I have always used the yoga mats the gym provides and never had an issue with slipping. So this yoga mat either:
A) is slippery [and will never get better]
B) has some substance on it leftover from manufacturing that makes it slippery (**Note** This mat has an EXTREMELY strong chemical smell that you should probably let air out for a day before using.) [going to try and rinse it off]
C) may need to be broken in? [that sure takes time..]
Don't get me wrong, this mat isn't as terrible as using a gym mat for yoga (THAT is slippery!) but it's definately not great (especially for the price).
